Timber Flooring
A timber floor provides a premium floor solution that is both cool in summer and warm in winter. It is hypoallergenic for people with allergies and can easily be restored back to new by an experienced floor sander with specialised machinery.
Old worn coatings, scratches and damaged boards are restored to new with a series of ‘cuts’ starting with a coarse grit levelling sand and working up to a fine sand stage that when finished is free of machine marks and imperfections and is ready for coating.
There are a number of coating solutions that finish a floor and provide a long lasting protection that highlights the natural colours and feature of the timber.
The two most popular finishes are water base polyurethane and hard wax oil. Water base polyurethanes such as a ‘Bona’ product have low volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and are engineered to be environmentally friendly without the pungent smell associated with the polyurethanes of old. They provide a high definition protective cover to floors that come in various sheen levels.
Hard wax oils such as a ‘Woca hard wax oil’ are a natural way to protect your floor and nourish the timber as it penetrates into the timber and provides a hard wax coating that looks and feels very natural.
